County Court Charges in England and Wales
£300 Presenting you divorce petition. This is to start the divorce proceedings and is payable to the court.
£40 Decree Absolute application. This is the document that shows you are divorced and is payable to the court.
Depending on you're current circumstances you may not have to pay the court fees mentioned above. This is called exemption.
Fee Exemptions
You will be exempt from paying the court fees if any of the following apply:
- you or your partner receive Income Support.
- you or your partner receive Pension Credit.
- you receive Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance.
- your gross annual income is £15,600 or less, and you receive Working Tax Credit with a ’disability element’ or ’severe disability element’.
- your gross annual income is £15,600 or less and you and your partner receive Working Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit between you.
